Schon lange steht es eigentlich fest, Google übernimmt Twitch für eine Milliarde US-Dollar. Jeder glaubte daran, es gingen auch Gerüchte rum, dass der Deal sicher ist. Aber wie so oft im Internet, ein reines Gerücht. Denn nun hat sich herausgestellt, der neue Inhaber von Twitch ist Amazon. Quelle The Wall Street Journal.
Und da muss man echt sagen, bzw. muss ich sagen: hätte ich nicht damit gerechnet. Wer hätte es geahnt, dass Amazon – ja das Amazon – Twitch kaufen wird? Und das für 1 Milliarde US-Dollar. Ich meine, es ist Amazon. Klar haben die zwar auch Gaming Erfahrung, haben ja auch schon mal ein Spiel rausgebracht sowie nen Spiele Studio – aber Amazon und Twitch? Klar, Amazon kann es sich leisten. Hat die Mitarbeiter, die Serverfarmen – aber ich hätte nicht damit gerechnet, dass der Versand Internet Riese einen Gaming Livestream Internet Dienst aufkaufen würde.
Twitch hat 55 Millionen Monatliche Besucher, viele Let’s Player veranstalten Livestreams auf Twitch, aber es gibt auch nur Twitcher (so nenne ich sie jetzt einfach mal). Wo ich das gerade gelesen habe, dass Amazon Twitch übernommen hatte – WTF einfach nur.
Was also los Google? Twitch hätte perfekt ins Portfolio gepasst. Gute Kombination aus YouTube und Twitch. Und nun? Amazon. Mal schauen, was Amazon daraus macht.

Together with you, we’ve found new ways of connecting developers and publishers with their fans. We’ve created a whole new kind of career that lets people make a living sharing their love of games. We’ve brought billions of hours of entertainment, laughter, joy and the occasional ragequit. I think we can all call that a pretty good start.
Today, I’m pleased to announce we’ve been acquired by Amazon. We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster. We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch.
